He is taking home a king's ransom each year as a Family First Senator for Victoria.
He was challenged by the media in Canberra today to spell "fiscal" and he came up with "f-i-s-k-a-l".
This wasn't just a simple spelling mistake by Senator Fielding - the hapless senator simply doesn't have a clue about the fundamentals of the Queen's English.
Senator Fielding is regularly voting on important laws and policy issues but today's effort shows he is not up to the task.
Maybe it's time for him to shape up or ship out of the Senate.
