Former Queensland detective Adam Raydon Magill pleads not guilty to CMC perjury

A FORMER Brisbane detective has today pleaded not guilty to perjuring himself before Crime and Misconduct Commission hearing and making a false statement to remove a prisoner from legal custody.

Adam Raydon Magill this morning entered pleas of not guilty in Brisbane District Court to charges of perjury and making a false statement.

It is alleged Magill falsified a removal order for Bevan Meninga in 2003, and gave false evidence about it during a CMC hearing in 2007.

The court was told Magill allegedly removed Meninga to interview him about an unsolved robbery.

Magill, now a solicitor, when arraigned of both charges said: "Not guilty, your honour.''

The jury is being empanelled ahead of the proposed week long trial.

They have been told high profile rugby league identity Mal Meninga could be called to testify during the trial.

The trial before Judge Keith Dodds continues.
