Facebook group threaten to expose brothel clients in Australia

A FACEBOOK group has threatened to expose clients of a legal Queensland brothel.

The group, Busted - Toowoomba, claims to have photographs of clients at Deviations, the only legal brothel in the southern city of Toowoomba, and has threatened to release them to group members.

The move has forced Deviations owner Jim Welch to ensure his customers their dealings will be kept private.

"It's an invasion of privacy, I'm sure they can't do it," Mr Welch said.

He is seeking legal advice.

Mr Welch said a similar threat to a brothel in Mackay died away.

"It just dies a natural death, people get over it," he said.

He promised legal backing for any client of the brothel who was exposed by the group.

Deviations opened in the traditionally conservative city in September, and business is good, Mr Welch said.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland police said it is not illegal to photograph an adult in a public place, such as on the street outside Deviations.

However, subsequent use of such photographs could be illegal, she said.

COMMENT: What is Facebook doing to stop this highly improper and obscene use of their site.
Probably nothing, as usual!
