The Australian Government is treating the Federal Court of Australia as a joke in its on-going vendetta against Indian Doctor Mohamed Haneef.
After winning round one of his appeal against the wrongful cancellation of his visa by the Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews, the Government instituted an appeal against the decision in the Full Court of the Federal Court.
It has now emerged that the Government had a contingency plan - spearheaded by the Australian Federal Police - to cancel Dr Haneef's visa, if he was granted bail by the Brisbane Magistrates Court on a trumped-up terrorism charge.
And that's exactly what happened.
Now, a secret email has emerged which apparently confirms the unlawful purpose in continuing Dr Haneef's jailing but the Government refuses to release any of the document under the Freedom of Information Act except the heading: "Draft Action Plan".
It was a Draft Action Plan alright! A plan to improperly overturn the decision of a judicial officer in order to continue the incarceration of an innocent man for political purposes.
When this whole sorry saga is ended, the Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews should be charged under section 42 of the Commonwealth Crimes Act 1914 with conspiring to pervert the course of justice in Australia.
The charge carries a 5 year jail sentence which should be just about the right amount of time for Mr Andrews to sit and cogitate in his dimly-lit cell about his disgraceful actions in jailing, then expelling from Australia, a totally-innocent man and extremely competent doctor.
