National apology from East West Motor Inn Manager in South Australia for racial discrimination

It is a sobering advertisement on page 4 of today's Australian newspaper.

Brian Brew, the manager of the East West Motor Inn at Ceduna in South Australia makes a humiliating apology to Marjorie Strickland and members of her group who were denied accommodation on 4 December 2007 because of her Aboriginal race.

Anti-Discrimination laws have existed at state and federal level around Australia for decades and it is disappointing that Brian Brew discriminated in the way he did.

The Aboriginal people of Australia can only trust Brian Brew's public assertion today that he is "sincerely sorry for the grief, pain, embarrassment, and humiliation" which he admits he caused on that grim December day - a low point in Aboriginal reconciliation in Australia.
