The 2010 Ipswich Poetry Feast was officially launched this morning at the Henry Lawson Bicentennial Park at Walloon, west of Ipswich.

Almost 100 people attended the launch which featured bush bards and other humorous hopefuls.

Goodna's Councillor Paul Tully launched his own light-spirited prose titled "The Ghost of Rosewood" about his long-term colleague Cr David Pahlke, Chair of the Ipswich Poetry Feast Committee, who owns one of the three pubs in Rosewood - supposedly inhabited by a friendly ghost.

Goodna's famous bush bard Tony Caswell - whose renditions are performed best in the public bar of the Royal Mail - was also in fine form.

Mayoress Janet Pisasale was in attendance and revelled in an avalanche of rural yarns and bush poetry.

The National Poetry Feast Patron, the Hon Matt Foley, Queensland's former Attorney-General, recited some of his favourite verse.

A special, personally signed limited edition CD of Jack Thompson's "The Campfire Yarns of Henry Lawson" featuring the true and tragic story of the "Babies of Walloon" was launched at today's Poets' Breakfast.

Peter Lawson, Great Nephew of Henry Lawson was a special guest of honour.
