If Labor takes Ferny Grove and Maryborough, the ALP will have 44 seats in the next Queensland Parliament.
Peter Wellington, the Independent Member for Nicklin, has announced he will support a Labor government.
This gives Labor 45 votes out of 89 on the floor of Parliament.
He said it was in the interests of stability of government in Queensland that he made his not-unexpected decision.
The most seats the LNP can win in their own right are 43 and would need to rely on two of the three cross-bench members to form government.
